江戸川印度文化センター(EICC)

館長であるよぎは1990年代の後半に来日し、2005年から外国人と日本人コミュニティーの懸け橋として福祉活動を開始。2006年7月に東京都江戸川区西葛西にある小島町二丁目団地に引っ越し、日本人と外国人コミュニティー間のトラブルや分断に気付く。日本人は外国人を、外国人は日本や日本人を理解していないと認識し、江戸川印度S文化センターという任意団体を設置し、日本人年配者の協力により日本語教室、マナー教室、年配者向けパソコン教室を開催。外国人住民向けの防災訓練なども企画。東日本大震災当時、被災地及び都内にてボランティア活動に参加。

2012年インフルエンザに感染したことを切っ掛けに、体調不良時にも食べられる家庭的でやさしいインド料理の店がないことに気づき、2013年1月に都内（江戸川区西葛西）にてインド家庭料理店を開店。直後に人気店になるが、店に訪れるお客さんの大半はインドや外国の文化に高い関心を持っていることに気付く。しかし、インドや外国について正しくて、まとまった情報を発信する場所はなく、2016年12月に江戸川印度文化センターのホール（約90平米）を開設。江戸川印度文化センターのホールでは、テーブル・椅子50客、プロジェクター、大画面モニター、ホワイトボード、大型木彫り祭壇、インドの民族衣装などを用意し、年中に渡り複数の交流活動を実施。

また、都内では音楽や舞踊の若手演奏者の活躍の場はあまりない（ライブハウスのレンタル料金が高く、収入になるどころか赤字運営になってしまうことが現状）ということを知り、着工当初は予定になかった防音対策、上質な音響設備を導入した上、ライブハウスの開催を可能にした。演奏者用のステージと約50脚のパイプ椅子を並べるスペースを確保した。今までにたくさんの国々からの演奏者による170回以上のライブコンサートを実施。

Yogi, the founder of Edogawa India Culture Center (EICC), shifted to Edogawa city in Jul-2006. Soon he realized that the local citizens in this area were not inclusive towards the Indian/foreigners community. Yogi established EICC in 2007 to support the Indian diaspora in Tokyo and Japan through cultural activities. The work of EICC started with voluntary Japanese language classes organized in 2007 with the help of some Japanese national senior citizens.

Later in 2016, a hall of 70+ sitting capacity was built to represent the Indian culture. The idea was to promote India's history and culture in Japan. The hall hosted Indian dresses, musical instruments, a beautiful large-size wooden altar housing a 75-kg 8-metal Ganesha idol made with traditional Indian techniques, and many other Indian things. 

The center hosts weekly classes for yoga, music, languages, etc. Japanese and Indian teachers come together to offer the classes. The center offers live events of traditional music and dances, collaborating with culture and performers from India, Japan, and many other countries. The center has organized 170+ events to date. 

EICC Ganesh Festival 2025 ガネーシャ祭2025

Since 2013, the Edogawa India Culture Center (EICC) in Tokyo has been proudly organizing the Ganesha Festival, bringing together the Indian diaspora and Japanese friends in a spirit of devotion and cultural harmony. Every year, hundreds of devotees and visitors come to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, creating a vibrant atmosphere of faith and togetherness. The festival is marked by the grand recitation of the Atharvashirsha Sahasravartan, performed with deep reverence, followed by a powerful Maha-arti that fills the venue with devotion and collective energy. Beyond the rituals, the festival also serves as a platform for cultural exchange, where music, dance, and dialogue strengthen the bond between Indian tradition and Japanese society, making the EICC celebration one of the most cherished Indian community events in Japan. 

東京の江戸川印度文化センター（EICC）では、2013年から毎年盛大にガネーシャ祭が開催され、在留インド人と日本人が信仰と文化の調和の中で集います。毎年、数百人の参拝者が集い、ガネーシャ神のご加護を仰ぎながら、会場は信仰と一体感に満ちあふれます。祭典では、荘厳なアタルヴァシールシャの読誦が厳かに行われ、その後には力強いマハー・アーラティが捧げられ、参加者全員が深い信心とエネルギーを共有します。さらに、音楽や舞踊、交流を通じて文化交流の場ともなり、インドの伝統と日本社会との絆を強めています。こうしてEICCのガネーシャ祭は、日本における最も大切なインド・コミュニティの行事の一つとなっています。 

EICC & Government of Maharashtra

EICC and the Government of Maharashtra (India) co-worked to organize multiple events in Japan. Some key events are as follows. (1) A display of the vibrant procession for beloved Emperor Chatrapati Shivaji (Bhosale) Maharaj, at Osaka Expo, on 21-Sep-2025 (Sun), with a team of around 50 participants, supported by Tokyo Lezim Pathak and Yokohama Dhol Pathak. The Chief Guest of the event was Maharashtra's Minister of Language and Industry, Mr. Uday Samant. (2) "Abhijaat Marathi" event, at Tokyo, on 23-Sep-2025 (Tue), along with Tokyo Marathi Mandal, Tokyo Lezim Pathak, and Yokohama Dhol Pathak. The event was houseful, attended by around 500 Marathi people residing in the Tokyo area. (3) The Osaka Expo closing event by the Government of Maharashtra, on 12-Oct-2025 (Sun). The event was performed by Mr. Nandesh Umap and team. (4) "Maharashtrachi Loksanskriti" event at Tokyo, on 13-Oct-2025 (Mon), an extravaganza event by Lokshahir Mr. Nandesh Umap, famed dance choreographer Mr. Subhash Nakashe, in the presence of Mrs. Neelam Shirke Sawant. 

江戸川印度文化センター(EICC)は、インド西部マハラシュトラ州政府とのコラボで様々なイベントを実現しています。例えば（１）大阪万博にて2025年9月21日に行った17世紀シヴァージー王の行列。東京から約50人の演奏者を連れて行って実現しました。マハラシュトラ州産業・言語大臣サマント・ウダイ氏が参加。（２）東京にて2025年9月23日に行ったマハラシュトラ州の文化イベント。満員ホールで盛大に開催。マハラシュトラ州産業・言語大臣サマント・ウダイ氏が参加。（３）2025年10月12日にマハラシュトラ州が開催した大阪万博閉幕イベント。（４）東京にて2025年10月13日に開催したマハラシュトラの文化を広く深くみせるイベント。インドから約25人のダンスユニットを迎え開催。満員ホールで盛大に開催。
